The Pickens Career and Technology Center is focused around creating an atmosphere that promotes student-led learning. A strong linear circulation axis serves to connect the various programmatic components within the school as well as provide abundant natural daylighting from above through a continuous array of translucent clerestory panels. At 153,000 sf, the facility serves the district’s four high schools and provides programming spaces for vocational education programs including sports rehabilitative medicine, health sciences, culinary arts, automotive engineering, law enforcement, agricultural mechanics, welding, pre-engineering, and mechanical/architectural design. The facility was designed to easily adapt for future industry needs.
