River Bluff High School
Lexington County School District One
The design for River Bluff High School is rooted in the concept of creating a 21st Century learning environment while addressing key issues of sustainability and environmentally responsive construction. Targeting LEED Silver, the school’s layout and configuration balances the functional requirements of a 2,400 student school with an emphasis on creating a strong relationship with the natural environment and surrounding context. Through careful and rigorous collaboration with the school district, the architecture of the school is an innovative response to a shift from the more traditional curriculum and pedagogy to an approach that includes more flexible, collaborative, and personalized spaces.
