Shoally Creek Elementary School
Spartanburg School District Two
Shoally Creek Elementary School Design began as Spartanburg School District Two requested an elementary school that would enable customized learning and reinforce the 21st century skill of collaboration. The overall design solution focused on centralizing core services with radiating classroom wings which creates a spatially efficient and exciting design while increasing building security. This design introduced a spacious, collaborative learning area in each of the three classroom wings. All classrooms open into this space where educational opportunities flow to and from the classroom settings. In order to better customize learning and reinforce the 21st century skill of collaboration, all of the classrooms and learning commons areas, along with the media center, are equipped with flexible furniture for instruction and individual, small and large group projects.
